Olam Tikvah Abba

ABBA

ABBA, which means "father" in Hebrew, is a group for fathers of young children who want to: socialize with other fathers, participate in wide-ranging Jewish activities, and just get out of the house every now and then!

There is no time commitment or membership fee. ABBA events are open to fathers of young children. Past events have included a Nationals game, a charity poker tournament, bowling, an evening of shooting pool, and a family Shabbat dinner. GMU Basketball, February 8, 2012 6:30pm. Join us as we cheer on the George Mason Basketball team as they take on conference rival Hofstra at the Patriot Center in Fairfax (4500 Patriot Circle; Fairfax, Virginia 22030).
The cost for this event is $18 (payable at the event). We’ll meet at the Patriot Center box office (West Entrance - Indoors) at 6:30 PM. General Parking is free and is available in Lots A, C, J or K. Poker Night, Sunday, March 18, 2012 7pm. Please join us for a relaxing evening at Olam Tikvah as we play cards to benefit Olam Tikvah’s Carol Samuels Memorial Youth Fund, which provides need-based scholarships for Jewish camping and travel, and to support the purchase of new classroom furniture for Olam Tikvah’s Religious School. Refreshments will be provided & non-cash prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners. Surprise awards have also become a tradition. Thirty-six dollars, payable at the event, will cover all refreshments, supplies, prizes, and proceeds to be donated.

ABBA's Beef & Bourbon Night

For several years, the Men from ABBA have enjoyed a steak dinner while learning about--and tasting--assorted libations. The drinks have ranged from kosher red wines to whiskeys of the world. In 2011, dinner was accompanied by a number of bourbons to try, other beverages, and a lesson about bourbon.

Thanks to Josh of Z-Tov, one-pound steaks were carefully cut and packaged for a successful steak sale before the dinner.
