Sunday, September 15, 2019 • 15 Elul 5779
9:45 AM - 12:00 PMKick off fall with Sisterhood's Fall Brunch! This year, we are thrilled to welcome chef Lauren Katz, where she will demonstrate how to create and shape an “Apples and Honey” themed babka. It sounds complicated, but one of Lauren’s specialties is making impressive-looking baked goods accessible for the average home baker. You will feel empowered to make babka from scratch at home, the easy way. Lauren will also talk about her experiences baking on television, in competitions and connecting to Judaism through food.
Please bring food donations to the brunch for OT’s first Power Pack collection of the year:
Mac & Cheese cups,
Tuna/Chicken Salad kits with crackers,
Pasta cups,
Chef Boyardee microwave cups, etc.,
100% Fruit juice boxes or Capri Sun juice pouches,

The Fast of the Firstborn (Ta’anit Bechorim) commemorates the horrific tenth plague that God inflicted on Pharaoh and the Egyptian people. In recognition of this moment, firstborn Jews fast on Erev Pesach. As this is a minor fast, there is a widely practiced exemption: Judaism allows anyone who attends a religious feast to forego fasting. It is customary to hold a celebratory meal on the completion of study of a piece of text, called a siyyum (conclusion). Whether you are a firstborn relieving yourself from the pre-Pesach fast, or anyone else simply looking to learn a little, come join us for the siyyum. After the siyyum, we will celebrate with a light breakfast. -
