Dr. Ronit Stahl

The  Battle for our Identity: The Impact of War on American Jewry

January 19-21, 2018

Ronit Y. Stahl is a Fellow in Advanced Biomedical Ethics at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her PhD in history at the University of Michigan in 2014. Prior to Penn, she held a postdoctoral research position at the John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics at Washington University in St. Louis. Her first book, Enlisting Faith: How the Military Chaplaincy Shaped Religion and State in Modern America (Harvard University Press) was just published. Her research examines religion and the regulatory state and at Penn she is focusing on the role of religion in health-related public policy, including conscientious objection in healthcare and negotiating religious pluralism in healthcare settings. Prior to beginning her PhD studies, she received a M.A. in Social Sciences in Education from Stanford University and a B.A. in English from Williams College. Ronit attended Gesher and is a graduate of the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School.

Please join us for a Shabbat Dinner following the 5:45pm service.  The cost for the dinner is $30.00 per person; young adults (ages 12-18) are $15.00 per person. Your dinner registration is needed by January 8. Cannot make the dinner?  You are still invited to the lecture at 8:15pm.
