Seventh Grade Online Learning--Added 3/18

Hello seventh graders! We've spent time this year learning to read photos as text, so let's put those skills into action with an activity that looks at photos taken in Israel over the last few decades. Use the link below to visit our padlet page and follow the directions at the top!

UPDATE COMING SOON

Seventh Grade

October/November 2019

Shana Tova! This past month has been jam packed in the seventh grade. We spent a lot of time discussing the High Holidays, such as Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We had a few lessons on the importance of these holidays relating to the Jewish community as well as to each of the students. This opened the doors for discussing more about their Jewish identity and their families Jewish traditions at home. We also dove into our hebrew lessons. We have spent the past few weeks building up our conversational hebrew, such as introducing yourself and saying phrases such as “my name is…”. We have also begun our photography project. We spent part of class trying to capture a feeling or emotion within a picture. This are the first steps towards the project we will be working on for the remainder of the year. Our end goal is to have pictures that capture our jewish identity or what Judaism means to us. Shana Tova to everyone and their families.

September 2019

This month in Seventh grade we have started talking about Jewish Identity and what it means to be Jewish. We have also been talking about the different ways individuals celebrate the holidays and how our families are all Jewish but we choose to celebrate it differently. We have begun to discuss to photography project we will be doing, where we will be attempting to capture our Jewish identity within pictures. Seventh grade has also started to learn basic conversational Hebrew, for example how to introduce themselves or ask for someone’s name. In seventh grade it is our goal to explore Judaism on different levels, that is why I have allowed the students to suggest topics that they want to learn about. We will learn about Judaism and how it can be involved in all aspects of life.
