Donations: Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I make a donation to OT?
A. You have a few options.

  • To donate online via credit card or ACH, visit our Donate page
  • OT members can have donations billed to their account to pay at a later date (log in to your account on OT’s website before making your donation).
  • You can print out a form and mail it to OT with a check.
  • To donate stocks, from a retirement account, or via a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), please visit this page.
  • You can join the Legacy Initiative by making a planned gift to Olam Tikvah. For more information, contact Rochelle Goldberg or visit this page.

Q: Are donations to OT tax deductible?
A: Yes. Olam Tikvah is a 501c (3) nonprofit organization.

Q: What is a donor named fund (DNF)?
A: Congregational members may “name” a charitable fund at OT. There are guidelines that explain the parameters for this activity. Please contact Rabbi Kalender for details.

Q: What is the policy pertaining to named donor funds that the OT Board of Directors passed in 2022?
A: In 2022, the Board updated the bylaws to note:

  • The minimum financial contribution to name an existing fund (or start a new one).
  • The minimum required contributions to the DNF over a five-year period.
  • DNFs must have a current OT member as a primary contact.

Q: Didn’t some of the existing funds used to have names attached to them?
A: Yes. Every five years, the Board reviews OT’s DNFs to ensure they continue to meet the criteria in the bylaws. In 2025, the Board identified four funds that did not meet the criteria for DNFs. These four funds remain intact and are now available for naming opportunities.
