About Olam Tikvah
Our traditional, egalitarian Conservative synagogue located in the heart of Jewish Fairfax is full of opportunities for spiritual growth, learning, and social interaction for people of all ages.
Congregation Olam Tikvah is a vibrant, multi-generational community connected by shared spiritual engagement. A Conservative synagogue, inclusive and rooted in tradition, we embrace the opportunities and challenges that come with exploring Judaism in the modern world. Our mission is to empower individuals to build lives filled with Jewish meaning.
Values/Pillars of our community
L’dor V’dor, every member can aspire to this mission and grow the kehillah through:
• Limmud (Education)
o We support lifelong Jewish learning. We help members of all ages deepen their understanding of Jewish beliefs and rituals so that they may feel confident participating in any service, at any synagogue.
• T’fila (Prayer)
o We promote prayer in synagogue life. We engage thoughtfully in daily minyan and Shabbat services, contributing to our own spiritual fulfillment and connecting with one another.
• Kehilla (Community)
o We create a place for meaningful friendships. We offer fun opportunities to socialize, we celebrate joyous occasions, and we support one another in times of need.
• Tikkun Olam (Social Action)
o We strive toward tikkun olam. We face outward and seek to be a positive influence through hands-on engagement in our local community.
• Eretz Israel (Land of Israel)
o We connect with the Land of Israel. We recognize this important aspect of our heritage through varied experiences and exchanges

Social and Spiritual Life at OT
Since 1965, Congregation Olam Tikvah has evolved into a vibrant community of 630 families who consider the synagogue their second home. Our welcoming community helps and supports individuals at every age and stage of life.
We offer traditional egalitarian lay-led services. Children are always welcome, and we offer both Shabbat morning babysitting and children’s and youth services. Holidays are celebrated with services and special programs.
We offer educational opportunities through our preschool, religious school, and adult education programs.
In the greater community, OT members function in many ways: celebrating Shabbat at local assisted living homes, making casseroles for the homeless, and holding blood drives are only a few of our Social Action initiatives.
We invite you to join us for services, get involved with Sisterhood, Men's Club, or any of our other synagogue groups, attend an event, or ask about what our younger members are doing. Find out about all the activities and learning possibilities that await you.
The Olam Tikvah Membership Committee is proud to present a monthly series called OT Talks to bring you fascinating stories and interesting ideas from our members. Watch our OT Talks series here.

The “Minor Prophets” weren’t of minor importance – it’s merely a description of the length of the books. These 12 prophets raise serious timeless questions about the world, human interactions and especially, the Jewish people’s relationship with God. What does God demand/request of us and what happens when we succeed or fail? These prophets, in books ranging from 1 to 14 short chapters, offer a remarkable diversity of opinions in a variety of Jewish societies and these profound books speak powerfully to us today. -
