Annual Meeting 2024

Olam Tikvah congregants are invited to Olam Tikvah's Annual Membership Meeting. Please RSVP below for the meeting (we want to be sure we have enough food!) by Thursday, May 30. We will begin to serve breakfast immediately following morning minyan, around 9:45am. The business portion of the meeting will finish at approximately 11:00am and then we will say farewell to Rabbi Bedo and her family at 11:15am.

The agenda will include:
  1. D’var Torah
  2. Presentation of Fiscal Year 2025 Budget
  3. Reflections on 2023-24
  4. Presentation of 2024 Linda Cohn Memorial Youth Award
  5. Presentation of President’s Award
  6. Election & Installation of Officers and Directors
  7. Prayer for Our Community
  8. Closing Remarks

Eligible Voters

Up to two adult members of a family/married membership, and the member of record for an individual membership, have the right to vote at the Annual Membership Meeting.

Officer and Director Eligibility

Up to two adult members of a family/married membership, and the member of record for an individual membership, are eligible to serve as a member of the Olam Tikvah Board of Directors or as an Officer. An Officer must have been a member of the Congregation for at least one year at the time of nomination to be eligible to serve.

Approval

Officers are elected by a majority vote. Directors are elected by a plurality.

Quorum

A quorum of 5% of all adult members in good standing is required to elect Officers and Directors who run unopposed. Otherwise, a quorum of 10% of all adult members in good standing is necessary to conduct business and make decisions.

Absentee & Proxy Voting

Adult members in good standing who are ill or incapacitated or who know in advance that they will be at work, school, or outside the Washington metropolitan area at the time the Annual Membership Meeting will be held may vote by absentee ballot. Voting by absentee ballot is limited to the election of Officers and Directors and to published agenda items. An absentee ballot may be obtained, in person, at the OT office during normal business hours. If you are not able to pick up a ballot in person, please email Rochelle Goldberg. All absentee ballots must be signed, dated, and sealed by the member, and received in the office no later than June 7. Proxy voting is not permitted.
