Green Initiative Info Session

Wednesday, January 26, 2022 24 Shevat 5782

8:30 PM - 9:00 PMZoom

One day, Honi was walking along the road when he saw a man planting a carob tree. Honi said to him, "How many years until this tree bears fruit?" The man said to him, "It will not produce fruit until seventy years have passed." Honi said, "Do you think that you will live seventy years?" He said to him, "I myself found a world full of carob trees. Just as my ancestors planted for me, I too am planting for my descendants." (BT Taanit 23a)

This story from the Talmud touches on a core Jewish value: it is our obligation to think about what kind of world we are leaving to the next generations. Our new Green Initiative at OT aims to address exactly this question.

Join us Wednesday, January 26 at 8:30pm on Zoom to brainstorm ways we can make the synagogue and our community greener, including composting, biodegradable serveware, community gardening, and more! We look forward to hearing your ideas.
