Holocaust Remembrance

The Northern Virginia Community-Wide Holocaust Commemoration, organized by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of Greater Washington and the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia in partnership with Congregation Adat Reyim and more than 40 partner organizations, synagogues, and houses of worship, will take place Sunday, April 8th at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia, 8900 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax.

 

The program reflects upon Hate Speech & the Holocaust with readings from internationally renowned Holocaust survivors from our region – Charlene Schiff and Herman Taube. ADL’s Doron Ezickson, Esq. & Director of George Mason University’s Center for World Religions, Diplomacy & Conflict Resolutions Marc Gopin, PhD present thoughts on the rise in anti-Semitism and intolerance today and actions to address it.

 

In addition to the readings, the program includes professional art and artifact exhibits; an interactive teen program; survivor testimony; original readings, dance, and music; along with JCRC’s ceremonial intergenerational candle lighting and Pledge of Remembrance.  

 

Program events include:

4:30pm – 6:30pm Teen Program

5:00pm – 7:00pm Exhibits & “Unto Every Person There Is A Name” readings

7:00pm – 8:30pm Community-Wide Commemoration
