10:15 AM - 12:30 PMHemlock Overlook Regional Park, 13220 Yates Ford Rd, Clifton, VA 20124

Join OTMC with your friends and family for a scenic hike and fishing stop along the Hemlock Overlook Regional Park's trail along the Bull Run River. Download more details here.

Parking: At the end of Yates Ford Rd, adjacent the park entrance, just past the Paradise Springs Winery. Parking is limited so carpooling is advisable.

Hiking Trail Loop: We will take the Bull Run-Occoquan trail head at the parking area, down to the Bull Run river, turn left at the river, head north about a mile to a good fishing area (by an old water pump), fish for a bit, then continue on to where the Clifton creek merges with the Bull Run River, and then hike up to the meadows of the Overlook Regional Park, and then through the county camping area, and finally back to the parking area. Loop length about 3 miles. Terrain is rocky at places, with a steep descent down to the river and back up from the river, but does not involve any scrambling. Wear good hiking shoes and bring a water bottle and snack.

Fishing: You need a state fishing license to fish, unless you are less than 16 years old. See: https://dwr.virginia.gov/fishing/regulations/licenses/

Spin or spin casting rod and reel preferred (no good fly fishing places along the shoreline), and hook sizes suitable for bass.
