MLK Day Welcome Home Box Collection for Afghan Refugees

All Day for 27 DaysMain Lobby Donation BenchIn honor of Martin Luther King Day, we are collecting donations for the Afghan refugees in our area.
Through MLK Day (Monday, January 17), we will collect items for “Welcome Home Boxes” that each family is provided with on their first day in their homes (see description below).
We are collecting the following new items:
- Kitchen Supplies Box (set of large pots with lids, set of large frying pans with one at least 12-inch pan, mixing/serving bowls set, set of kitchen utensils, wooden spoon set, set of clear baking dishes, set of knives, can opener)
- Kitchen Tableware Box (flatware, set of kitchen plates for 6, set of 4 mugs, set of glassware for 6, 4 kitchen towels, dish soap)
- Linens Box (sets of sheets for 2 queen and 2 twin beds, 4 blankets, 6 pillows, alarm clock, laundry basket)
- Cleaning Supplies Box (all-purpose cleaner, laundry detergent, sponges and scrubber, cleaning rags, paper towels, 2 waste baskets, trash bags)
Donations can be dropped off at OT in the main lobby donation bench. If you have any questions or would like to help assemble the boxes on MLK Day, please contact Barbra Golub at barbragolub@yahoo.com. Volunteer space on MLK Day is limited to maintain distancing.
Looking for more ways to help our Afghan allies? Join our volunteer team. Opportunities include providing transportation, sorting donations, physical assistance loading and unloading donated items, offering one-on-one services, and making material and financial donations.
