Tisha B'Av Shacharit & Eicha
Thursday, July 27, 2023 • 9 Av 5783
9:00 AM - 10:00 AMSanctuaryTisha B’Av is a day of national mourning in the Jewish year, commemorating the destruction of both the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem in 586 BCE and 70 CE respectively. Throughout our long history, other calamities that have befallen our people have also been linked to this day, yet the destruction of the ancient Temples, Jerusalem, Biblical Judaism and the loss of our spiritual center remain the focal point of loss on this holiday.
Join us as we read Eicha (Lamentations) and commemorate the tragedy of this day and its impact on our religion and history.
We do not wear tallit and tefillin at Shacharit as usual on Tisha B'Av. We will have the opportunity to put on tallit and lay tefillin on Thursday night as part of the mincha service at 8:15pm.
