The last two-and-a-half years have tested and challenged us in ways we never expected, and we've risen to those challenges in ways we never could have foreseen. Zoom minyan? Livestreaming funerals and b'nei mitzvah? Virtual shiva visits, online learning - all of these have become regular elements in our Jewish communal lives.
Now what? What stays and what goes? How do we come back together? What does our Jewish tradition teach us about the options and decisions we are faced with? As we enter a New Year and a new phase of the pandemic, we'll join together in study and conversation to address these issues.
Steve Kerbel is an independent education consultant in the Greater Washington DC area who has been involved in Jewish education, formal and informal, youth group, camp, day school and congregational school for 35 years. Steve’s clients have included the Olam Tikvah Religious School, Ramah Day Camp, the Center for Israel Education in Atlanta and the Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies in metropolitan Washington, DC.
