Literary Circle: Gateway to the Moon by Mary Morris

Gateway to the Moon is a novel that intertwines past and present. In 1492, the Jewish and Muslim populations of Spain are expelled, and Luis de Torres, a Spanish Jew, joins Columbus on his voyage to America as an interpreter. His descendants migrate over centuries from Spain and Portugal to Mexico, ultimately settling in the hills of New Mexico.

Five hundred years later, Miguel Torres, an amateur astronomer from Entrada de la Luna, uncovers deep secrets in his hometown. He takes a babysitting job with the Rothstein family, new Jewish residents who share customs eerily similar to his own.

The novel features the intertwined stories of Entrada's residents' ancestors, highlighting the persecution and resilience of the Jewish people. Gateway to the Moon is a heartfelt exploration of shared history and family journeys.
