Join Sisterhood for an outdoor movie night to schmooze and watch Keeping Up with the Steins (2006, PG-13). Keeping Up with the Steins is a comedy directed by Scott Marshall, and starring Garry Marshall, Jeremy Piven, Jami Gertz and Daryl Hannah. The film is a spoof on how some Jewish families see a bar mitzvah or bat mitzvah not as a coming of age for their son or daughter, but rather as an excuse to throw outrageously lavish parties. This movie takes us on a journey of a young boy who is preparing to become a bar mitzvah in Los Angeles’ ostentatiously opulent neighborhood with all the wrong priorities. But in the end, watching the comical and sometimes absurd situations his family and friends create for themselves, clearly sends a message to concentrate more on the “mitzvah,” and less on than the “bar.”
