Walk-A-Thon

10:00 AM - 12:00 PMRoyal Lake, 5344 Gainsborough Dr, Fairfax, VA 22032 (Please walk down the hill to the picnic benches by the lake)Whether you walk, jog, run, hike, or mosey, you can do it with Sisterhood in a walk-a-thon to support the Chris Atwood Foundation, a peer-driven community organization in Northern Virginia providing free harm reduction and recovery support services and advocacy for people impacted by substance use. Even if you do not wish to walk, please feel free to donate to this cause.
10:00AM - About the Trail
Fairly easy, mostly unpaved picturesque hiking trail loop around beautiful Royal Lake. Parts of the trail go up and down, but much of it is flat. The trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers since there are steps, tree roots and some fallen trees on the path.
11:00AM - Post-Walk Talk with Laura Schwartz
If you like, you are welcome to show up just for the talk.
BYO picnic lunch or snack and stay (or join us) for a talk with Laura Schwartz, a dedicated professional who has worked in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Field since 2016. Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Systems Management from George Mason University and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Public Health. She is a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and is currently under supervision as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). She is a compassionate and driven individual committed to making a positive impact in substance abuse and behavioral health services in the community.
