Deborah, Jael and Sisera’s mother, and the Witch of Endor. What is the significance of these four women in the Tanakh, and how did their image change over time? We’ll look at the Biblical text along with commentary and artwork of various periods.

Each class will stand on its own—attend one, two, or all three. It would be helpful, but not necessary, to read the relevant chapters of Tanakh in advance. A handout will be provided via email the week prior to each class.

February 28: Deborah (Judges 4-5)

March 14: Saul and the Witch of Endor (I Samuel 28)
