Getting Ready for the High Holidays
Wednesday, September 25, 2019 • 25 Elul 5779
7:30 PM - 9:30 PMThe Rosh Hashanah Liturgy - Unetaneh Tokef
Unetaneh Tokef is one of the most powerful and sobering prayers we recite during the High Holidays. We stand before God, recognizing that each of us will have a year filled with ups and downs, that we will experience moments of unbridled joy and have to face the deepest sorrows, some of us will live and some will not. This tefillah gives us the very image of God sitting before the Book of Life, judging and inscribing each one of us. Together with Rabbi Ravski, we will study this prayer, its history and composition, how its stark honesty helps us approach this time of year in a serious and meaningful way and most importantly how Teshuvah, Tzedakah and Tefillah can change our lives for the better.
Please RSVP to Erin Dreyfuss at edreyfuss@olamtikvah.org or (703) 425-1880.
This class is the second in a two-part series. Feel free to join Rabbi Kalender on Wednesday, September 18 for an in-depth study of the Kol Nidre service and prayer.
Sorry, Registration has ended.
