9:00 PM - 10:30 PMSanctuaryJoin us before the Slichot service this year as we welcome our new shaliach (Israeli emissary), Yehoon. Yehoon was born in Ethiopia and made Aliyah with his family in 2001. He lives in Kiryat Malachi. He enjoys cooking, hiking, playing sports, coffee and reading. Come learn more about him and how he came to be here with us in Northern Virginia.
Nosh after the program sponsored by the Membership Committee.
The Slichot service will follow at approximately 10:00pm. Slichot is a prayer service composed of various psalms and poems. Unlike all other prayer services we have, Slichot has no fixed liturgy; it is an inspirational and aspirational way to begin the High Holiday season. The words of the individual psalms and poems are fixed, but the choice of which to include in the liturgy, in each service, is unique, depending on the day, the year, and the community. It is symbolic of how we should approach teshuvah (repentance) every year.
