Chanukah Events at OT

Candle lighting at evening minyan

Come together at evening minyan Sunday-Thursday evening at 8:00pm during Chanukah to light the Olam Tikvah chanukiah. The first candle is Sunday, December 14.

Jewish Treasures Chanukah Bazaar 

Sunday, December 7, 9:30am-1:00pm. Light up the holiday with gifts from Jewish Treasures! Shop select items at Jewish Treasures: candles, gelt, dreidels, menorahs and more!

Jewish Treasures Holiday Shuk

Sunday, December 14, 9:00am-1:00pm, in the Main Lobby. Another opportunity to buy all of your Chanukah necessities: candles, gelt, dreidels and more! 

Kadima Pre-Chanukah Havdalah and Latke Cook-off 

Saturday, December 13, 6-7:30pm. Say goodbye to Shabbat and hello to Chanukah (a few days later) at this evening filled with holiday fun! Come hungry, because we'll be cooking up some creative latkes and competing to see whose flavors come out on top! Register here

OT & Gesher Community Chanukah Celebration

Sunday, December 21, 3:00-5:00pm at OT. We are excited to light the last candle of Chanukah with the Olam Tikvah and Gesher community! Our Shinshiniot, Lior and Yahli, have a wonderful program for us to enjoy together. Our afternoon will include games, crafts, theater, and a sweet treat. Plus, we'll have a community candlelighting (BYO chanukiah & candles) and singing. Register here

Young Families December Playdate

Thursday, December 25, 10:00am-12:00pm. Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers and their parents from across Northern Virginia are invited to join us for a morning that includes: a giant under-the-sea inflatable, sea creature crafts, and lots of toys and snacks to share! and lots of family schmoozing! Chanukah Events in the Community

Lights, Candles, Action! Hanukkah at the Pozez JCC

Monday, December 15, 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the Pozez JCC

Join the Pozez JCC for a celebration of Hanukkah! Embrace the festive spirit with our community as we light the menorah together and enjoy lively entertainment. Family-friendly activities start at 5:30pm, building up to the menorah lighting ceremony at 6:00pm.

National Menorah Lighting

Wednesday, December 14, 3:30pm - 5:00pm

The Ellipse, The National Mall

Join us at the annual lighting ceremony of the National Menorah. Hailed by international media as “the most prominent public Chanukah event in the world” the annual lighting ceremony of the National Chanukah Menorah, on the Ellipse, just across from the White House, helps launch and strengthen the celebration of “Chanukah – Festival of Lights” in all 50 states and over 100 countries globally. 

Prominent guests including the President, Vice President, members of the Cabinet, Congress and the diplomatic corps, as well as numerous senior Administration officials and international dignitaries and celebrities, have all attended and participated in annual lighting ceremonies of the National Menorah since it was first lit in 1979.
