Sunday morning Shacharit

Each Sunday at 12:30pm, from May-October, a group of volunteer gleaners from Olam Tikvah meets at the West End Farmers’ Market at Cameron Station (4800 Brenman Park Dr, in Alexandria) to pack up fresh produce and deliver it to residents of local shelters. It's impossible to know exactly how many thousands of pounds of food we deliver each year to people who don’t often have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, but it is a lot. It's hard to think of a more important mitzvah than providing food to people who are without. Gleaners usually commit to gleaning once or twice a month. Shabbat mornings offer a wealth of worship and learning opportunities for all ages. We hold one congregational service, beginning at 9:30am. Men and women of all ages - from age 13 through grandparents - lead portions of the service, receive aliyot, and read Torah. It's not unusual for younger children, below b'nei mitzvah age, to lead the chanting of specific prayers. Youth childcare and services begin in our youth wing at 10:00am for ages 18 months-6th grade. The congregation always enjoys lunch together following the service.

Our Shabbat service is open to everyone. Come in-person or join us via livestream!
